I have a confession to make. Until the Lilly sale (which then led to splurging for work attire at J.Crew, Loft, Banana, and The Limited), I really haven’t been buying a lot of clothes. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still just as in love with shopping, but I’ve been focusing my purchases elsewhere: on preppy home decor. The Boy and I moved into an apartment at the end of November, and I’ve been slowly curating to make it home.
Recently, I’ve been posting pictures of the summer decor (all-American versus fall/winter, which is tartan) to Instagram, and a lot of people are wondering where I find things. I’ll begin by saying I’m no stranger to scouring flea markets and even ebay once I’ve decided I wanted something (think vintage oars, wooden tennis rackets). I’ve also raided my grandmother’s basement, where I found some amazing silver serving trays and old golf clubs. But the majority of my collection has come from three sites: One Kings Lane, Joss & Main, and Zulily. (If you need invites to any of them, please click here: OKL, J&M, Z.)
They have everything from vintage goodies and modern art to kitchen necessities and furniture. Seriously. If you can think of it, they have it. One Kings Lane is my personal favorite because of their curated collections. There’s one right now called Country Club, and, once you’ll look, you’ll understand where I get a lot of my inspiration.
