I always struggle with New Year’s Resolutions. I like a clean slate as much as the next girl, but I don’t see why January 1 has to be the new beginning. Plus, I typically keep indulging in Christmas cookies until mid-January (then start again once Girl Scout Cookies arrive in March), so it’s slightly hypocritical for me to pledge to work out more and eat better at the beginning of the year. However, being the planner that I am, I’ve been ordering cute workout gear in preparation. It also serves as motivation. What are your workout essentials?
With the arrival of Girl Scout cookies (+ the coldest winter of all time), I’ve definitely been slacking when it comes to working out. The Boy got me the cutest pair of sneakers because I was complaining about a lack of motivation, which got me thinking that a cute new workout wardrobe could do wonders. I scoured the web for some of my favorites (all to match my new shoes!) and thought I’d share. Now, if only I could find a workout I enjoy as much as these clothes!
I could not be more excited for today’s post. I’m going to be honest: I’ve been in a workout/eating rut. I started strong this spring and kept it going until a few weeks ago, but I’ve been a disaster lately. I’m talking 1 cardio session a week, some ab workouts here and there, and lots and lots of late night snacks. I totally blame The Boy for all of this; he’s a horrible influence!
We just booked a vacation for the end of November, and while I’ve been telling myself I have eons to get back on track, the truth of the matter is that I’m just bored with my current regimen and have had no desire to find motivation. So, when someone from Kayla Itsine’s team reached out to me about a blog feature, I (squat) jumped at the opportunity!
If you don’t follow Kayla on Instagram, please do so now. Holy motivation, right? Kayla, a totally fit 23 year-old Australian, has created easy-to-follow Exercise & Training and Healthy Eating & Lifestyle Plan guides that can get you the bikini bod you’ve been sort of kind of maybe working on in 12 weeks (just in time for my trip). My favorite part is that the meal plans aren’t terribly restrictive diet (nothing like my BPC experience), and the workouts aren’t super intimidating. Both guides are completely manageable a busy schedule, so don’t even try the, “But recruitment/homework/project deadline has me so too busy,” excuse.
I will be starting the challenge on Monday, and I’m hoping some of you will be brave enough to join me! If you’re interested and have more questions, please feel free to reach out! If you’re ready to take the plunge with me, you can order a couple of different ways. You can order just the Exercise & Training guide or just the Healthy Eating & Lifestyle Plan for $69.97 each, or you can save $19 and order both together. I’ve gotten both so I can follow the more comprehensive, inside-out approach, but it’s totally up to you. I can’t wait to see how far we come!
Need help looking cute while you sweat? I’ve got you covered:
Today’s Delight of the Day is Nike’s NCAA line of Tempo Running Shorts. We all love our norts (and Krass & Co shorts, obviously), and we all pretend to love college football. So it’s basically a no-brainer that we’d love these shorts. While they don’t carry any for Pitt (no one ever does), there are a lot of other really awesome schools featured. Which school will you be cheering for this year?
