I always struggle with New Year’s Resolutions. I like a clean slate as much as the next girl, but I don’t see why January 1 has to be the new beginning. Plus, I typically keep indulging in Christmas cookies until mid-January (then start again once Girl Scout Cookies arrive in March), so it’s slightly hypocritical for me to pledge to work out more and eat better at the beginning of the year. However, being the planner that I am, I’ve been ordering cute workout gear in preparation. It also serves as motivation. What are your workout essentials?
I finally got to go to the Lilly Warehouse Sale this year! I’ve wanted to do this for years but have never actually, so when my friend Courtney asked if I wanted to go, I was game. And guess who else was there? The always-hysterical Becky! Needless to say, even before we got in, it was a good time.
My thoughts on the sale itself? The prices really weren’t that different than the online sales, especially considering how long we all had to wait. However, it was really nice to be able to try everything on instead of hoping for the best. And it was a crazy experience. The volunteers kept everything stocked pretty well, but girls were going nuts over the popovers. It was like Lilly for Target on crack. They were literally chasing after the volunteers as they brought out racks. In spite of the insanity, everything was pretty organized, and the checkout lines were super fast. Overall – would I go again? You bet!
Since I graduated college and have been back in central PA, I’ve wanted to go to the Lilly Warehouse Sale. However, I wasn’t quite brave enough to go alone. Thankfully, this year, I have a friend! I’ve never been before, so I have no idea what to expect. (Although, after Lilly for Target, I have a feeling it’s going to be insane!)
I imagine it’s going to be a lot of their fall/winter stuff, but a girl can dream of finding these new arrivals, right?
What an experience! I’m in utter shock over the outrage the release has caused. As someone who deals with the Lilly sale every year, I’m totally used to the website crashing and missing my must-haves, so I wasn’t too upset about that. However, what happened at my local store was nuts. I showed up at 7:45 (The Boy was running late!), and I wasn’t very far back in the line, but there were no clothes left by the time I got in. I meandered over to that area, found one shirt, started to pick it up, and another lady grabbed it from my hands. Insane.
So while everyone hit the bags next, I walked to the home section. Hoards of women started running past me. Everything was gone. Thankfully, while they were checking out, the (very patient!) Target employees brought out another box, so I was able to score the blanket and mugs before the girls came running back. There were women waiting outside of the dressing rooms hoping people would change their minds. Yikes.
Overall, I’m very pleased with what I did manage to score from the internet and store. The home items I got – the mugs, cocktail glasses, the basket, and the blanket – are great, and they came just in time for the new place. So far, two of my dresses have arrived. Target’s sizing is a bit different than Lilly’s, so I ordered 2s instead of 0s, but the fit is almost identical. And, not to rub it in for those who didn’t find dresses, I’m seriously impressed with the quality. I purchased a shirt from the Jason Wu collection, and it split at the seams after one wear. It was a loose-fitting blouse, so certainly not an issue of being too tight.
I hope that all of you were just as lucky! And if you scored the napkins and/or hammock and decide to sell it, please let me know 🙂
It’s that time of year again! Lilly’s After Party Sale starts at 8:00 am on Monday, January 5. As in the past, I’m sure the site will experience a bunch of issues, so I have a few tips for you!
1. Update your billing information prior to the sale. Like, now. If you already have your updated credit card/address info saved, it makes the checkout process much quicker, which can mean the difference in getting that cute dress or losing it.
2. Try accessing the sale on your computer, your phone, and your tablet. For the Endless Summer Sale, I could only access it from my laptop. This time last year, only my phone. You just never know!
3. If you’ve clicked the order button but haven’t been redirected to the confirmation screen, check your email before trying again. Over the summer, I placed the same order twice due to the site’s issues, and they didn’t accept returns 🙁
4. Go a little crazy. This is the only time you’ll see Lilly at this price until the end of summer!
They have a great Q&A section you can check out here.
If you have a Lilly lover on your list (or just want a small gift for yourself!), you have got to check out the Hanky Panky + Lilly Pulitzer collection. I first heard about this collaboration over the summer, and I’m so excited it’s finally here!
They’re offering boy shorts, thongs, camis, bralettes, and a chemise, all at surprisingly reasonable prices. Plus, if you sign up for their mailing list, you get $10 off your first order, making these an even better steal! Which print is your favorite?
When it comes to packing, I have a bad habit of packing waaaay too much stuff. What can I say? I like options. The Boy and I are headed to Riviera Maya soon, and I’m trying super hard to limit my suitcase to the essentials: bikinis, flip flops, sneakers (for zip lining – not working out!), dresses, a tote bag, and a few good books. What are your vacation must-haves?
Day one of the Lilly sale is over, and let’s give credit where it’s due: Lilly did a phenomenal job of managing website traffic this year. Sure, there were a few glitches (one my orders was duplicated, but I’m hopeful customer service will fix this!), but nothing like in years past. I was able to get 2 dresses and a skirt I had been eyeing all summer, plus another cute dress I stumbled upon. What goodies did you score?!
Good news, preppy girls everywhere! Lilly’s After Party Sale (formerly the Endless Summer sale) starts on Monday. Most of you have probably shopped the sale before, but, if not, here are some tips to help make it easier:
The sale starts at 8:00-ish EST on Monday morning. In preparation, I like to log into Lilly’s site Sunday afternoon to update my credit card information and shipping address. With all the glitches (see below) we normally run into, this is one less thing to have to update during the rush.
The site always runs into glitches, so don’t be upset when you encounter the, “Oh Shift!” screen of death. Lilly will have things up and running within a couple of hours, and, if you’re having issues, everyone else is too. You might end up missing out on one of your favorites, but there’s plenty on sale!
Once I add something to my bag, I order it right away. Just because it’s in your bag doesn’t mean it won’t sell out. My first year, I had a full cart, and, come checkout time, only two items remained. Devastating.
Make sure you like Lilly on Facebook. They post links to sale items just for fans periodically, and you don’t want to miss out!
Today’s Delight of the Day is sure to please all Lilly lovers out there. The Madeline Sunglasses are adorable, and at only $38, totally affordable! They come in three different prints – Hotty Pink First Impression (my forever favorite), Turquoise Let’s Cha Cha, and Shorely Blue Mini Party Favors. I’m thinking of ordering a few extras as gifts (Christmas, birthdays, initiation, graduation…you get the point!) Which pattern is your favorite?
I’m also super excited to announce the winner of The Page Girls giveaway! Congratulations, Zach!
