Homecoming Attire

For the first time since I graduated (it’s been four years already – yikes!), I’m going to homecoming! I’ve considered going a few times, but bad weather and work have always gotten in the way. This year, I made a resolution to finally make my way back. I love Pittsburgh – especially in autumn. Now, I know you Southern girls are shaking your heads wondering where my sundress and bows are, but we do it a little differently up North. Mostly because it’s freezing. Delights of the Day + a Giveaway

Today’s Delights of the Day are the ACC and SEC Tanks by Southernly Stated, $20. They read, “Love God, Sweet Tea, and the SEC/ACC.” Preps are all about school pride, and these cute tanks allow you to showcase that pride in a cute, sratty way. I can’t wait to order the ACC tank (Pitt joined this year! Woohoo!).

Southernly Stated is super awesome and is giving away one lucky reader their choice of an SEC tank or t-shirt. The t-shirts come in your team’s colors, and they’re also really adorable. Good luck choosing! You’ll have to go to my Facebook page to use the Rafflecopter, which keeps tracks of entries.

Pennington & Bailes

Tailgating – I mean football 😉 – season is quickly approaching, and with it comes some very important fashion opportunities for your prepster. As you know, I went to the University of Pittsburgh, and while we were huge on tailgating, no one got as dressed up as everyone in the south does. I, of course, wore my preppy best, but I’d have looked out of place in a dress and heels like the ladies of the SEC wear.

However, for those of you lucky enough to get to dress up, or those of you who want to start the trend, meet Pennington & Bailes. Founded in 2005 by Mel Pennington and Tygh Bailes, who wanted “fill a void in collegiate sportswear – top quality fabrics combined with classic style and preppy flair.” The pair got “idea while tailgating at a South Carolina football game in 2003. Tygh traveled south from the Old Dominion for a great weekend of football and tailgating in the Palmetto State with Mel and friends. He showed up wearing a pair of embroidered pants that drew a lot of attention on game day and they quickly realized they could take the tried-and-true preppy look to a new level.” Their mission is to “create the highest quality, best fitting, collegiate inspired clothing. If you are passionate and love your team’s colors the way we do, but hesitate to wear a jersey or t-shirt to show off that pride, then you’ve come to the right place.” How very lucky for all of us!

Their first pair of Stadium Pants – which remains their best seller – sold online on June 30, 2006. Since then, they’ve “sold thousands of pants and have expanded the men’s line and added lady’s and children’s clothing.” While their top selling schools are the SEC schools (mainly UT, UF, UGA, UA, and LSU), they’re always looking to expand. Pitt fans, I’m counting on you to email them and ask very politely that they create a line for us, because this is all super adorable!

Of course, I had to ask Ben (their amazing PR guy) what their favorite tailgating foods are. He took a poll and told me they love BBQ, chicken wings, and 7 layer bean dip. I couldn’t agree more! So, this season while you’re out enjoying all the good food, good times, and good football, show your school pride with Pennington & Bailes!
