Euro Trip – Days 1 and 2

Good morning, lovely followers!

With the help of all of your feedback (thanks!!), I’ve decided to do a mix of both an update of my travels AND some Delight of the Day posts. I’ll also add some pictures of yours truly once I recover from this awful cold. I currently look like Rudolph. Super attractive. If at any point I become one of those obnoxious people who never stops rambling about things, please tell me. I hate that!

We (my sister, Melly, and I) left good ole Pennsylvania Monday afternoon and headed toward Chicago for our first layover. I’ve never been before, but it looks super pretty from the plane, so I’d definitely like to visit some time. (Plus one of my BFFs and Chicago Prepster live there!) Anyway, we had a 4-hour layover and decided to make the best of it with our last American meal – a phenomenal cheeseburger. I’m all about the health.

After Chicago, we headed to London for a 13 freaking hour layover. Because I can’t sit still for longer than two seconds, we decided to venture outside of the airport to Leicester Circle. As you know, I’m crazy OCD I like to plan things out, so I haven’t been sleeping much. That, paired with this awful sinus business, has me pretty exhausted. So exhausted that ALL I could think about was getting coffee. Leicester Circle, you didn’t disappoint.

(Thank you, God.)

There really wasn’t much else there, so we decided to head to Piccadilly Circus since it’s only one Tube stop away. (We’re pros now. Honest!) Of course, it started pouring while we were there, so we basically hid in Starbucks until it was safe to run back to the station.

Overall, nothing super excited has happened yet. But maybe that’s because I’m still riding the high of skydiving for the first time (thanks, honey!!). We should be landing in Athens at 3:00 am this morning, so I’m sure I’ll have better updates the rest of the week!

What are your favorite places in Europe? Or, if you’ve never been, where would you most like to go? (It’s never too late to book an impromptu trip and meet up with us!)

Packing for Europe

As you must know by now because I never shut up about it, Melly (my younger sister) and I are heading to Europe in exactly one week! Our trip begins in Greece, covers all the big spots in Italy (Milan – my friend is doing a law internship there!, Florence, Venice, Naples, Capri, and Rome), hits Paris (doing the most romantic city on the planet with my sister seems fitting), breezes through Edinburgh, and ends in Dublin (for my sister’s 22nd birthday. Trouble will ensue).

Anyway, as if planning the whole trip wasn’t stressful enough, I’m now working on what to pack. We’re staying in a lot of hotels and apartments with washers and dryers, so I plan on doing a lot of laundry in an effort to reduce the amount of clothing I bring. I need to have room to bring more back. Duh. I definitely plan on bringing everything I’ve included in this post, along with an old blazer and a few other sun dresses. In terms of jewelry, I think I’m just bringing my watch, my monogram necklace, and pearl earrings so I don’t have to worry about losing anything. Do you have any other recommendations?

I Need YOUR Help!

Audrey in Paris

By now you’ve all heard me mention that I’m going to Europe this summer with my younger sister. Well, in fact, I leave May 27! That’s just over two weeks away!

In case you have any interest in where I’m going, here’s our itinerary:

·         Greece (Athens, Delphi, Olympia, and Meteora)

·         Italy (Milan, Venice, Florence, Naples, Pompeii, Capri, and Rome)

·         France (Paris and Normandy)

·         London

·         Scotland

·         Edinburgh

Jackie in Greece

There are definitely several places I’m bummed about not visiting, but we only have 5 weeks, so we figured we’d hit our favorites. (Side note: if you have any hotel suggestions, please email me! I’m overwhelmed with choices! Preppydelight[at]gmail[dot]com.)

So now I need your help. I was going to do a bunch of pre-scheduled Delight of the Day posts, but I’m kind of worried that items will sell out, and I’ll get you all excited for nothing L I AM taking my phone with me (I do social media work on the side, so I have to have access!), so there’s the option of just doing posts about my trip.
