Blossom Vox Box

I’ve been part of this really awesome program, Influenster, for a while now. Basically, they send boxes every so often with really great new products to try, and you share it with your friends on social media! (If you’re interested, you can sign up here.) This time, I got the Blossom Vox Box, a box dedicated to spring.

Contents:

Beanitos bean chips: These are so good! I love tortilla chips but rarely divulge in them, but the protein and fiber in these made me feel a little better about eating the whole bag.

Clairol Hair Food Root Cleanser: I have long hair that tends to get pretty oily at the roots after a day. I’ve only used this once so far, but I washed and styled my hair Monday morning and, as I’m writing this Tuesday night, my hair still looks good. Plus, it smells great!

Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs: They call this leg makeup, but it’s essentially self tanner that doesn’t smell bad and washes off once you hop in the shower. I’ve actually been using this since last spring, and I love love love it. If you’ve seen a picture of me in a dress on Instagram, you’ve seen me with this on.

Bear Naked Granola: I added this to some Greek yogurt, and it was perfect on-the-go breakfast! Very tasty, even to someone who isn’t a granola lover.

Nasoya Zero Calorie Noodles: I was gluten-free in college (Celiac’s runs in my fam, but it turns out gluten isn’t my issue, so I’m not anymore), so I was very familiar with these before the Vox Box. They’re a great gluten-free, vegan, low fat, and low calorie pasta alternative. Nothing will ever truly replace pasta in my mind (I’m part Italian), but these come closes!

NYC New York Color City Proof 24HR Eye Shadow: True story. I really don’t wear much makeup. Mascara, always, but that’s about it. However, I did want to give this a try before sharing anything with you. I was really impressed with how long this lasted and that it didn’t cause creases on my eyelids – two things that have long prevented me from wearing eye shadow. While I still won’t wear it every day, this is great for special nights out.

Australian Gold Lotion Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30: I was really impressed with how moisturized this left my skin. I usually only put sunscreen on when I know I’m going to be in the sun all day, but this is great for everyday wear when you know you’re probably going to be in the sun but not enough to warrant your normal sunscreen. Perfect for parties that start during the day and transition into evening soirees.

Thanks to Influenster and all these great brands for letting me try their products!

Tory Burch Sale

I finally checked the weather for my trip, and it’s going to thunderstorm literally every day. Hopefully, it’s like the Dominican and it’ll just rain for an hour or so. Anyway, obviously I was in a bad mood. That is, until I checked Twitter and saw that there’s a Lilly sale! Take 30% through Monday!

My Healthy Obsession

I recently got to test Crest’s new Pro Health HD two-step toothpaste system c/o BzzAgent, and I’m so excited to share my review with you! I drink a lot of coffee. A lot. So, needless to say, maintaining pearly whites takes quite a bit of work. I’ve been using Crest toothpaste and white strips for years, so I might be a little biased, but I think Crest’s products work best.

crest pro health HD

This new toothpaste system comes with two tubes – one with fluoride to clean your teeth and one with hydrogen peroxide to whiten them. You’re supposed to brush with tube one for a minute, then, without rinsing, brush with tube two for another minute. Even after the first time, I could tell my teeth were cleaner. Like that just-done-the-dentist clean. However, if I’m being completely honest, I’m too lazy to use this every single morning and night. It wasn’t like I used a timer, so I ended up brushing with both until my toothbrush buzzed after two minutes. This meant I spent four minutes each morning and night brushing my teeth, and I’m usually running too late for work in the morning to spend that much time brushing my teeth.

So the real test is how well it whitened my teeth. Like I said, I’ve used white strips several times because of how effective they are. My teeth are super sensitive, though, so I tend to only use them for a few days, take a month break, then use them again. This toothpaste is great in that it doesn’t bother my teeth like the strips at all. The downside is that it doesn’t whiten as quickly. I’ve included before and after pictures (both without filters) from my one-week trial. As you can tell, there’s definitely a difference. It’s not huge, but it’s way better than any other toothpaste I’ve ever tried.

crest pro health HDOverall, I’d say that if you have sensitive teeth, this toothpaste is a great way to mimic the results of white strips without the pain. I also think that using white strips super often is bad for your enamel, so using this is a great alternative in the interim. Just keep in mind that it won’t whiten your teeth in one day like the strips, and I think you’ll be very pleased!

Real Talk

I’ve kinda been stinky lately. At blogging. Similarly to everyone else in the world, I’ve been so crazy busy with work and school and Junior League and Kappa and 84357439857 other things that blogging has definitely taken the backburner. Any free time I get is usually spent snuggling with Atticus, catching up on my DVR to stay warm in this weather because my brain just needs a break. But, honestly, it’s kind of sucked. Blogging is a great forum for expressing creativity and practicing retail therapy, which has always helped me unwind. Going forward, I promise to be better. Instead of worrying about having dinner ready the second The Boy gets home and about responding to work emails at 9:00, I’m going to take some me time and blog more.

So now I have an ask of you. What would you like to see more of? There are SO many bloggers out there. What makes you read mine? I’d love to take more outfit photos and share, but, let’s be honest – I’m not a model, and it’s super awkward to have your boyfriend take pictures of you walking across the street – so that’s never going to be an everyday thing. But I’m absolutely open to suggestions, so please let me know!

New Year, New You

BluePrint Cleanse

Most of us are planning our New Year’s resolutions for 2015, and, if you’re like most people, one of them has something to do with living a healthier lifestyle. I’m absolutely one of those people. That being said, I’m horrible at finding the motivation to start diets/working out regularly. Once I get past the initial hump, I’m crazy-dedicated, but, until then, I’m worthless. That’s actually a huge reason I did a cleanse at the beginning of this year. I would try to run and eat salads for a few days, but I’d be right back to Thin Mints in no time. After the cleanse, I stuck with it until after my vacation fell through at the end of July. Intense.

BluePrint Cleanse

With literally the perfect timing ever, Rue La La just started a BluePrint Cleanse sale! (If you’re not already a member, here’s a free signup link!) You can choose from 3 days ($149.99 – regularly $195.00), 5 days ($249.99 – regularly $325.00), or 9 days ($439.00 – regularly $535.00). When I did mine, I purchased two 3-day cleanses (excavation level), and I thought it was great, so I’m going with the 5-day cleanse. Keep in mind, for a few days before and after, you really should only eat veggies, so if you can’t live without chocolate for 15 days, 9 might be too long.

BluePrint Cleanse

If you’re seriously considering the cleanse and have any questions, please feel free to shoot me an email. I’m happy to help if I can! preppy delight[at]gmail[dot]com. One question I was asked a lot after my first cleanse was if it was just as effective to buy them at your grocery store. The answer is no. I’ve read that, while they’re still healthy if you buy them there (vitamins are always good!), they don’t pack the same cleansing punch. That’s why BPC overnights them, keeps them as cold as possible without freezing, and tells you to drink them right away (aka if they arrive Monday, start Monday and finish Wednesday).

Introducing: Kayla Itsines

I could not be more excited for today’s post. I’m going to be honest: I’ve been in a workout/eating rut. I started strong this spring and kept it going until a few weeks ago, but I’ve been a disaster lately. I’m talking 1 cardio session a week, some ab workouts here and there, and lots and lots of late night snacks. I totally blame The Boy for all of this; he’s a horrible influence!

We just booked a vacation for the end of November, and while I’ve been telling myself I have eons to get back on track, the truth of the matter is that I’m just bored with my current regimen and have had no desire to find motivation. So, when someone from Kayla Itsine’s team reached out to me about a blog feature, I (squat) jumped at the opportunity!

If you don’t follow Kayla on Instagram, please do so now. Holy motivation, right? Kayla, a totally fit 23 year-old Australian, has created easy-to-follow Exercise & Training and Healthy Eating & Lifestyle Plan guides that can get you the bikini bod you’ve been sort of kind of maybe working on in 12 weeks (just in time for my trip). My favorite part is that the meal plans aren’t terribly restrictive diet (nothing like my BPC experience), and the workouts aren’t super intimidating. Both guides are completely manageable a busy schedule, so don’t even try the, “But recruitment/homework/project deadline has me so too busy,” excuse.

I will be starting the challenge on Monday, and I’m hoping some of you will be brave enough to join me! If you’re interested and have more questions, please feel free to reach out! If you’re ready to take the plunge with me, you can order a couple of different ways. You can order just the Exercise & Training guide or just the Healthy Eating & Lifestyle Plan for $69.97 each, or you can save $19 and order both together. I’ve gotten both so I can follow the more comprehensive, inside-out approach, but it’s totally up to you. I can’t wait to see how far we come!

Need help looking cute while you sweat? I’ve got you covered:

Delight of the Day 6/12

While browsing Lilly for gifts for my sister’s birthday present, I stumbled upon the cutest USB flash drive keychains. Melly has a serious obsession with elephants, so this is pretty much perfect. At $32, this is a great grad gift for your friends at an awesome price for you! (Plus, while you’re there, you might as well order your agenda!)

Lilly Pulitzer + Estee Lauder

Attention Lilly lovers: I just found out that the amazing partnership between Lilly Pulitzer and Estee Lauder is back! If you buy $35 worth of Estee Lauder products at Macy’s, you’ll receive a free Lilly makeup bag filled with $120 worth of Estee Lauder product. I actually got this the first time it was offered, because I loved the Lilly bag so much, and Estee Lauder products are pretty darn great – sort of a no-brainer, ya know?

The geniuses at Macy’s are making it super simple by offering two great tools (the ones the incredible ladies behind the counter often use – you’re basically a pro now) to help you identify the best products for your skin: their Estée Lauder Skincare Finder and Estée Lauder Foundation Finder. Personally, I’m a huge fan of their BB Cream, but you really can’t go wrong! Make sure you order soon, though, because this deal is only available until Sunday, March 23!
