Delight of the Day 8/30

feedI posted about the FEED and Target collaboration back in July, but I just stumbled upon this Racerback Tank, $15. While I love dressing up in my favorite Lilly dresses most of the time, occasionally a girl has to relax. This tank is perfect for that. Plus, you can pair it with your fav Krass & Co. shorts for an extra cute look.

So after you save starving children in America, make sure you use your good karma to enter to win another tank (which also benefits Midwestern US charities)!

Apartment Inspiration – Part I

So you may have gathered that the boy and I are moving in together. Needless to say, I’m a little nervous. I’ve only ever lived with my parents, in a dorm, and in the sorority house. Not exactly autonomous living if ya know what I mean. But I’m so excited to start this new adventure, and I can’t imagine anyone I’d rather do it with. Except maybe one of my fav bloggers so I could borrow her clothes. I kid. Sort of.

Anyway, both of us are super picky, so it’ll probably be next year a while until we finally find a place, which gives me plenty of time to decide how to decorate it! Thus starts my latest series on apartment inspiration. I plan on covering the bedroom, the bathroom, and the living room for starters. This is our first apartment, so it’s probably going to be tiny, and, therefore, somewhat limited in what I can do. I figure those are the most important rooms to decorate, as our kitchen will probably be pretty small and not so conducive to decorating. Since I don’t have the apartment yet, I’m going to provide images from which I’ve pulled inspiration and include a few links to some great products – just in case you’re inspired, too!

The first room I’ll focus on is the bathroom. I’ve wanted a nautical-themed bathroom for ages. In fact, I’ve been buying decor for it since my senior year in college. Clearly, I wasn’t planning on living at home for so long. Oops. Anyway, in an ideal world, I would love to paint the walls with stripes, but I figure that’s kind of silly for a place we’ll probably only be for a year. So, I’ve had to step up my game on other aspects to get that extra nautical vibe I want.

First things first: I need a striped shower curtain. Navy and cream, navy or white – doesn’t matter. However, I cannot find one. Anywhere. Thankfully, Pinterest has all kinds of guides on how to paint curtains, so I’m planning on getting a cream one and adding navy stripes. Super crafty, right? (Side note: if you know a place where I can buy any, pleasepleaseplease let me know!)

Next are towels. I love Ralph Lauren’s Palmer Towels, particularly in Polo Navy and Regatta Cream. (I’ve gotta keep up with theme!) We’ve had these towels for years in various shades (my dad isn’t into design, so we just have a collection of ranom colors he bought on sale), and they’ve withstood everything. Sure, they cost a little more than your basic towel, but, when they last longer, it’s not a huge deal.

Now onto the actual fun stuff: decor. Things I must have:

Any item marked with an asterisk is from my new favorite Etsy shop, Nautical Beach Decor. The lovely owner, Preston, has offered all of you 5% off any order of $20 or more with code {PREPPYDELIGHT}! It’s safe to say I’ll be be stocking up.

p.s. Don’t forget to enter my Flyover Press giveaway! Their Bennington Flag print would be perfection for any nautical room, and you can win one!

Delight of the Day 8/27

I have to admit: today’s Delight of the Day is brought to you thanks to one of my dearest friends, Allison. We went to Pitt together, and she was definitely my partner in crime – especially when it came to shopping. So when she texted me a picture of this Longchamp bag last night, I knew I had to share. I don’t need to sell you on a Longchamp. You know how great they are. They’re lightweight, they’re versatile, and we love them. What’s great about this Longchamp, the Planetes, is the black leather detail paired with the black nylon. It’s so chic! I sometimes feel that my Longchamp is my lazy go-to bag, but the Planetes adds a touch of class that any prepster can appreciate. You can also get it in Plum if that’s more your color!

p.s. It’s also available at Bloomingdale’s

p.p.s. Don’t miss out on my Flyover Press giveaway!

Flyover Press + Giveaway

One of my favorite male bloggers, Nick from Great Lakes Prep, recently started his own company – Flyover Press. There’s the East Coast (obviously the best, but I’m biased), the South, the West Coast…but we sometimes tend to forget about those flyover states (yep, cue Jason Aldean). Flyover Press is out to change that. They’re all about promoting Midwest love. And, while I’m not from the Midwest, I can absolutely support Nick’s mission, because, well, ‘Merica.

Just check out their “About Us” section:

Located in southwest Michigan underneath planes venturing cross country, Flyover Press seeks to end the coastal bias that leaves the Midwest so often ignored. By crafting made in the USA apparel and posters inspired by the people, places and traditions of America’s Heartland, Flyover Press serves as a way for Midwesterners to display their pride to the rest of the country.

We’re committed to three things, high quality American-made products, excellent customer service and providing products for the people of the regions of this country that are too often ignored. And having fun while we do it. Some of our best ideas are hatched over a couple beers with old friends. So make that four things.

We also love the Midwest and try to support it in as many ways as possible. That’s why we try to produce as many of our products in the Midwest as we can. Our shirts are printed in Indianapolis and while our posters are printed in Connecticut, they’re done by a couple who broke into the business in Chicago. As we add more products to the line we’ll continue trying to seek out Midwest sources. It might not be the least expensive way of doing things but it’s how we believe in doing business.

Plus, as if making everything in the US (and, specifically, the Midwest) didn’t make them amazing enough, they also donate 3% of all profits to Midwest-based non-profits! Any brand with a philanthropic side is good in my book.

So now you’re hooked, right? I can’t say I blame ya! Lucky for you, Nick has generously offered to give one reader the chance to win his or own Patriotic Midwest Tank Top or their choice of any print on the site. All you have to do is enter using the Rafflecopter below…and decide which one you’d choose!

I have cotton ones, wool ones, and fun decorative ones. Do I need another? Of course not. Am I going to buy this one? You betcha. I love anything with a good polka dot print, so when you put it on one of my wardrobe staples, I’m practically obligated to buy. Where’s your favorite place for pencil skirts?

Delight of the Day 8/22

So I know I usually post about clothing and accessories, but today’s Delight of the Day was just too cute to pass up. If you follow me on Twitter, you know I’ve been on the hunt for my first apartment. I lived in the dorms my first two years of college, then the Kappa house after that. After graduation, I became a stay at home daughter. Butttt, now I’m ready for bigger and better things.

Since I’m not having a whole lot of luck finding an apartment in this crappy charming little town, I’ve decided to buy everything to decorate it so that I’m ready to go on move-in day. You’re welcome, daddy. When I stumbled upon these gems on Pinterest, I knew I had to have them. Lilly Pulitzer shower curtains! Can you imagine how cute they’d be? I, of course, would choose First Impression Hotty Pink – one of my all-time favorite prints. Plus, they have matching towels! Cutest bathroom ever.

And don’t forget to enter my Greek Life Girl giveaway!

Delight of the Day 8/21

Today’s Delight of the Day is the Dot Com & Collected Dress in Navy from ModCloth. Now that my prison sentence corporate career is back in gear, I’m always looking for ways to add pretty things to my day. This dress is it. So cute, right? I love that I can wear it during the last days of summer AND I’ll be able to pair it with some tights once it gets cooler. Look at me being all practical and grown up. Ha.

And, while you’re at it, make sure you enter my Greek Life Girl giveaway! One lucky reader will get a tumbler, norts, and a frocket with her sorority’s print! You have until Monday at 2:00 to enter. Good luck!

Delight of the Day 8/20

Today’s Delight of the Day is the Printed Peter Pan Collar Tee from J.Crew Factory, originally $72 but currently on sale for $59.50. I absolutely love the Peter Pan Collar trend. I hope it never ever goes away. It’s so polished and ladylike, but you can also dress it down with shorts or jeans and Jacks for a more casual look. And with J.Crew’s sale on new arrivals, now’s the time to get ahead!

p.s. How cute are these sorority tumblers? You can enter for your chance to win here!

Greek Life Girl Giveaway

With the back to school season comes one of my favorite times of the year – sorority recruitment. I love recruitment so much that I even help out at my local chapter. There’s just nothing like welcoming a brand new group of amazing girls to your sisterhood J

So when Terri of Memento (you remember that fabulous giveaway, right?) asked if I’d be interesting in teaming up with her other company, Greek Life Girl, I jumped at the opportunity – especially because their first customer was a Kappa!

Check out their story:

“We wanted to take the original element that we brought to monogrammed items into the world of Greek apparel and gifts. From our signature Greek Life Girl Monogram Font that was hand drawn by designer, Sandra Love. We created a way to wear your Greek letters in a girly monogram style that is an alternative to the block letter type.

We do still love the traditional block lettering and have an embroidery font that uses two colors of thread with an outline and fill stitch for block Greek letters. In addition to the college staples of crewnecks and hoodies we have added a mesh tee that is perfect for football games and our V-neck pep rally tee.

Our applique fabrics are organized by design style with over 300 applique options with prints and twill. Fabric designs include stripes, polka dots, chevrons and paisley prints.  We tried to add things that we would all loved to have worn back in college. Most of us at Greek Life Girl are fairly young and not that far past our College days.

In addition to apparel we have trendy enamel bangle sets in preppy colors or your school colors. For wearing around the dorm we have spa wraps and robes. For those long nights of studying we have boyfriend pants that are too cute and extra comfy.”

So how awesome would it be to win your very own Greek Life Girl products? One lucky winner will receive a frocket, norts, and a tumbler. All you have to do to enter is head over to my Facebook page and click on the Sideqik tab! The giveaway starts Monday, August 19, 2013 at 9:00 (so you have lots of time for the Lilly sale!) and ends Monday, August 26 at 2:00 pm! That gives you a full week to enter, so no excuses! Good luck!

Delight of the Day 8/16

As a Kappa alumnae, I still find myself obsessed with keys and fleur de lys. Hence why I’ve been lusting after today’s Delight of the Day for quite some time. I introduce you to the David Yurman Fleur de Lis bangle, $395. I’ve never been a huge Yurman fan. A sin. I know. But I simply adore this bracelet. It lets me show my Kappa pride without being too showy, because, let’s face it, I probably shouldn’t be wearing my letters outside of the gym anymore.

But, obviously, you don’t have to be a Kappa to wear this. You could be a Francophile. You could be part royal. Or you could just really like fleur de lys. Whatever your reasoning, this is the piece to ask for, for Christmas/Hanukkah/whichever holiday you celebrate. I know it’s number one on my list!

p.s. Just in case you have a Saks card/promo/whatever, you can also order it there!

p.p.s. Just saw it’s also available at Neiman Marcus!

And don’t forget – the last day to enter my Devon Alana Design giveaway is Saturday at 11:59 pm! One lucky winner will receive her very own monogrammed bow in whatever pattern she wishes!
