Today’s Delight of the Day is the Pleated Shift Dress from J.Crew, $69.50. While perusing the 50% off sale in stores last weekend, I stumbled upon this gem. I love a good, structured dress, because they’re flattering on everyone! I guarantee this is going to be a wardrobe staple for a lot of preppy gals this spring and summer. Which color is your favorite?
Yesterday was a sad day for preps everywhere. Lilly Pulitzer, may she rest in peace, shook up the traditional preppy wardrobe with her bright prints, and no closet is complete without one of her classic shifts. In honor of Lilly Pulitzer, today’s Delight of the Day is from the lady who lived every hour like it was happy hour.
I’m one of those people who can never find things that fit off the rack. I have to have almost everything tailored. So when I find something that fits well, I buy it in pretty much every color they sell. Case in point: the Lilly Pulitzer Mimosa Skirt, $98. This will be my fourth, and I’m not the least bit ashamed.
If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve probably noticed I’ve been obsessed with Chubbies as of late. Their marketing team is genius. I find myself actually looking forward to their emails,
when, normally, I want to pull my hair out from all the junk I get. Plus, Chubbies hates cargo shorts as much as I do. I mean, honestly, why do you need all those pockets? It’s just shady. (Please check out Chubbies’ Cargo Embargo campaign. I die.)
Anyway, their ‘Mericas, $59.50, have me absolutely swooning. What better way for your guy to show his American Pride
and a little leg? Plus, if you order during the pre-sale, you get this awesome pair of American Flag sunglasses from Knockaround, so even if the shorts aren’t appropriate for a particular function (you know, if you’re at a party in North Korea or something), the boy can still wear these.
I’m thinking I could definitely order these for myself and have them tailored, right?
Regardless of the actual temperature, it’s spring. I’m done wearing sweaters and pants; bring on the pretty dresses and Jack Rogers. Seriously. Today’s Delight of the Day will help you do just that! The Colorblock Linen Dress by American Living, $60 is about as pretty as can be. You’ve probably noticed that this blue is my absolute favorite (followed closely by mint – who cares if it was last year’s color?), so I could hardly pass this up when I saw JCPenney was offering $10 off with code SPEND50.
p.s. I ordered my usual size, and it was a little too big. They don’t have a size smaller, so I’m just going to have it taken in, but keep that in mind when you order! You can always order two sizes and return one to your store for free 🙂
I got such an amazing response to last week’s Currently Obsessed post that I’ve decided to try to do one a week. This way, I can highlight all of my new favorites for the week, and you can see them all in one convenient post! What are you loving this week?
Today’s Delight of the Day is the Nautical Sequin Tank from J.Crew, $79.50 (but take an additional 30% off with code MOREPLEASE). I’m crushing on this shirt like no other. How amazing will this look for a nwith your fav pair of white denim and some cute wedges? Or you could dress it down with some casual shorts and Jacks. Frankly, the possibities are endless.
By now, you all know and love Great Lakes Prep. (And, if you don’t, what in the world are you waiting for?) Nick’s blog is my go-to any time a preppy guy asks for advice. Seriously. Just ask my boyfriend. So when I heard Nick had started his own company, Flyover Press, I knew I had to help spread the word.
Here the summary from Flyover Press’ Indiegogo Campaign: “To quote Don Draper, ‘Well, as I said before, I’m from the Midwest. We were taught that it’s not polite to talk about yourself.’ That’s how we were taught to grow up in the Midwest, to be humble and not to brag. But there’s a problem in that. It means we are often overlooked by the rest of the country. They don’t talk about us and we are too humble to talk about us and thus we are ignored. Maybe it’s time we started talking about ourselves.
That is why Flyover Press was born. To help show our pride in being from the states others would rather just flyover. To show them what they are missing. To convince them they may just want to take in the heartland from the ground and not just the air. To project our identity to the rest of the country. To be the voice that we are often too humble to use.
Flyover Press creates letterpress posters inspired by the states, the regions, the culture, the heritage and the people of the Midwest. Each 13″ x 20″ poster will be pressed in limited runs using the traditional method onto 110lb. letterpress paper. The pressing itself is done in Chicago using handset type and linoleum cuts and good old-fashioned Midwestern hard work. Midwestern letterpress posters made in the Midwest by Midwesterners.” (Is it just me, or were you also singing Jason Aldean’s Flyover States while reading this?)
While I’m not a Midwesterner, I am a sucker for anything Made in America, and I love Nick’s idea of showing off Midwestern pride. Plus, how neat would it be to say you helped fund a startup company? If you donate to Flyover Press’ campaign, you can proudly show off the following:
- All contributors will receive a personal thank you note and a shout out on Facebook and Twitter and will also receive notice of new prints before everyone else and access to special Founder’s Sales and Promotions.
- All contributions of $5 or more will receive a Flyover Press koozie
- Contributions of $25 will receive a Flyover Press t-shirt
- Contributions of $30 or more will receive a choice of one print or a credit for a future print. The prints will retail for $35 so we want to thank the people who helped us get a start (you all) with a special price.

- Contributions of $55 will receive a choice of one print or a credit for a future print, a t-shirt and a koozie.
- Really feeling generous? Contributions of $500 or more will receive the opportunity to work with Flyover Press to design a special print. You will receive this print and your choice of an additional three, plus two t-shirts, two koozies and the print will be available for the entire world to purchase. Pretty cool, huh?
