I’ve Got My Toes in the Water

So I’m pretty much the luckiest girl in the world and was invited on a two week trip to Hilton Head, starting tomorrow – my 23 birthday! As such, I’m going to take the next two weeks off on my blog. I’ll still be tweeting away, so if you need your daily dose of Preppy Delight, you can head on over to my Twitter page.

Before I leave, I figured a beach post would be appropriate. Every prep loves his or her beach vacation, so I’m going to share my favorite beach essentials. Hope you enjoy!

Notte Stellata from Shabby Apple, $78

Seersucker Swimsuits from J.Crew, $29.99-82.00

Panache Lucille – Top, $53.92 and Bottom, $53.92

Odette Striped Bikini – Top, $100 and Bottom, $104

Biscayne Bay Bow Bikini Top from Heidi Klein – Top, $168 and Bottom, $136
(Definitely a little pricey, but you could always just buy the top and use basic navy bottoms!)

Bahama Map Chappy Trunks from Vineyard Vines, $79.50

Everette Seahorse Swim Trunks from J.McLaughlin, $95

Open Shoulder Cover-up from Victoria’s Secret, $59.50

Seersucker Tugs from Shop Tugs, $14
(These are super adorable and totally practical. You don’t want to lose your shades while cooling off in the ocean!)

Script Sunglasses from Pineapple Grove Gifts, $36.50

Folding Wayfarers from Ray-Ban, $150
(I personally own these, and I LOVE them. Worth every penny!)

Seersucker Frat Hat from Southern Proper, $25

USA Team Beach Towel from Ralph Lauren, $60

Everyday Beach Towel from Vineyard Vines, $95

Leather Sandals from Rainbow, $48.99
(These flip flops are my absolute favorite. If they break, Rainbow will actually replace them!)

Warehouse Canvas Spot Shopper from ASOS, $48.71

Sorority Tote from Vineyard Vines, $95
(Obviously not everyone is a Kappa, but they also have other sorority prints, university prints, and several other options!)

And last but not least: do NOT forget your sunscreen! Leathery skin isn’t cute on anyone, and I don’t want any of you to have to deal with skin cancer. Ever. My favorite sunscreen is Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer formula, which you can get in an aerosol can or a regular bottle! Oh, and this SPF 50 ChapStick. You don’t want burnt lips, either.

If you’re a blogger and you haven’t already, you should definitely check out Influenster. First you sign up, then you basically unlock some badges so they can individualize your package, they send you a package full of fun free stuff, and you review it! It couldn’t be simpler. I received my first package yesterday, and I am SO thrilled!

I received:

  1. Sheer Cover Duo Concealer: This stuff is like gold. It covers every flaw (including my dark circles!) but doesn’t have a heavy feel to it. I like to keep my makeup very light, and this fits in with my routine perfectly.
  2. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash: This stuff smells phenom, and it left my skin silky smooth. I will definitely buy this the next time I run out of body wash.
  3. Dr. Scholl’s Ball of Foot Cushion: I’ve used these before, but this version is new and improved. Whereas the older model sometimes made it so my shoes were too tight, these are thin enough that it isn’t a problem. These will make wearing your favorite shoes so much more comfortable! I tried them out last night with my new Webster Collection Wedges from Target, and my feet felt great this morning.
  4. ChapStick Lip Shield 360: ChapStick created this balm to be used year-round, and it contains antioxidants and Vitamin E. Plus, it’s SPF 50, which is kind of amazing, as all of my current ChapSticks are SPF 15. It has a light lemony flavor that isn’t at all overwhelming, and this is exactly what I needed for my beach trip.
  5. Sally Hansen Salon Effects: I was definitely excited to try this out. I love the idea that it can last for up to ten days ! While the color isn’t exactly my style, I’m always up to try something new. The directions were really great and made application simple. Also, everything looked flawless – as if I had gotten them done professionally. However, within a few hours, it was already peeling off. I’ve included two photos – one taken a few minutes after I applied everything, and another one taken two hours later. I don’t know if maybe I botched the application and that’s why this didn’t work, or if this is what everyone has been experiencing. If you’ve tried them, let me know! I’d be interested to see what others think.
  6. Bath & Body Works Fine Fragrance Mist in Moonlight Path. Bath & Body Works describes this as, “Notes of French lavendar, lilly of valley, oak moss and musk are blended in this deeply romantic fine fragrance.” I’m not usually a mist person, but this stuff smells amazing. It’s very sultry, and I love it for summer nights! I wore it out last night, and I got so many compliments from everyone. Plus, new boy was smitten; I credit this mist!
  7. And a Strawberry Soyjoy Bar (130 calories, 5 g fat, 20 mg cholesterol, 45 mg sodium, 220 mg potassium, 17 g carbs, and 4 g protein): I was kind of iffy about this, as some of these health bars are kind of hit or miss, but this was pretty tasty. I think I’ll buy a few to put in my Kate Spades for those days I’m running around.

Delight of the Day 5/16

Today’s Delight of the Day is the July 4 Tank from Kiss My Southern Sass, $25. I’ve long since been a fan of her Twitter account, and when I saw that she had made special edition 4th of July tanks, I was super excited. Frat tanks are the most comfortable thing in the world, and, thanks to Kiss My Southern Sass, now they’re also really cute! Cheers to ‘Merica!

Delight of the Day 5/15

If you follow me on Twitter, you probably saw that I received a new iPhone case this weekend. I’m so, so happy with how it turned out, and I wanted to share this amazing store with you. Today’s Delight of the Day is the customizable  monogrammed iPhone case from Kelly of Fast Track Promotions and Gifts, $20.25 shipped.

There are several options for you to choose from. First, you can decide if you want a hard case or a flexible plastic case. I went with the flexible case. It’s still fairly hard, and I think it will do a better job protecting my phone. Then you choose what color you want the case to be – clear, white, or black. I went with black because I have the black phone. Then you choose the pattern and the color you want. I chose quatrefoil, because it’s my latest obsession. If you email her, she can invert the colors, add colors, etc. She’s amazing. Then choose your monogram and place your order. You include exactly what you want in the “message to seller” box, and she’ll email you to further discuss things. She also sends you a picture of what it will look like before she prints it.

The best part? She shipped it the SAME day I ordered, and it arrived two days later. Enjoy your new case!

Delight of the Day 5/14

Today’s Delight of the Day is the totally incredible Seven Seas in Seersucker Dress from Shabby Apple, $88. My friends at school used to joke that they could tell it was me from far away because I was always in ruffles or a cardigan, so, needless to say, I absolutely must add this ruffly seersucker perfection to my closet. I also really like that it has sleeves, because most of my summery dresses are sleeveless, which is sometimes inappropriate for certain functions so I have to put a cardigan over it, which gets kind of hot in the summer. What do you think?

Delight of the Day 5/11

Today’s Delight of the Day is the Tiers the Place Dress from Mod Cloth, $54.99. I LOVE the  scalloped tiers of color; could this dress be any cuter? And, at less than $55, this dress is perfect! I’m picturing myself at brunch in Hilton Head! Where would you wear it?

p.s. This has since sold out, but if enough of us click the “I Need It!” button, they’ll reorder! Yay!
